Welcome Speech of the DG-CAARS & CHANCELLOR, the Society for Elimination of Child Labour, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery in Africa
As part of the Inaugural online meeting of the Council /Board members of the Society today 22 December, 2023.
Dearly beloved Council/Board members
It’s with deep thanks and appreciation I welcome you to this meeting.
To me it’s a pleasure to be part of the great movement towards the realization and bequeathing of the Africa of our Dream.
I’m confident the caliber of men and women who are in the Council/Board are sufficiently endowed and motivated to drive the mandates of the Society.
Let me quickly restate here that the learned Society for Elimination of Child Labour, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery SoECLaHTMS is one of CAARS initiatives for driving social equity and development in Africa and across the Globe.
It’ll be incorporated at national and continental levels and shall draw its membership from corporate and non-corporate persons whose interests from across the World. Its primary mandates include eradication of child labour, human trafficking, all forms of modern slavery and their likes.
The Society shall advocate for the elimination of child labour, human trafficking, all forms of modern slavery and related social malaise in Africa and the world
Mode of Operation
To float centres of excellence in universities (Africa and non-African) with the mandate of carrying out research which target finding solutions to the problems associated with the mandate of the Society. Part of the mandates of the centres will be running academic programs that are in line with the mandate of the Society.
– the Society will partner with relevant government and non-government agencies with related mandates in carrying out workshops, trainings and other empowerment programs in line with the overall mandates of the Society
Operational Base
The society’s headquarters shall be located in Africa.
Management
There shall be a Board of Regents, and the ⁸Management Board for the Management of the Society.
While the Board of Regents plays oversight over the Management Board, the latter exercises day to day control over the affairs of the society.
Let me conclusively state that we have all it takes and God is with us. In the next few years, we shall look back, and by the grace of God, we shall see the new face of the African child; and we shall be glad we did not fail in these mandates today.
On behalf of the Board and Management of CAARS, I charge you “to go work” and make a new AFRICA; the Africa of our Dream, a reality!
God bless CAARS
God bless Society for Elimination of Child Labour.
God bless Africa!
Congratulations for making it to this Board.
