History of CAARS

CAARS – IS ABBREVIATION FOR CENTRE FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN RESEARCH STUDIES
It is a multi-disciplinary international non-governmental research centre founded by Prof Nnamdi Nwaodu and his Pan-African research team in the early 2000.
Over the years, CAARS has got full legal personality in two African countries through incorporation in Nigeria in 2012 and in the Republic of South Africa in 2017; and Representatives and country offices in the US, Canada, UK, Finland, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and many others.

Research Scope

As a multi-disciplinary research centre, CAARS research scope is universal, however, it the past decade, its focus has been around – science, technology, health, culture and socio-economic development.

Membership

CAARS is basically a platform for interactions, networking, partnership and collaboration building among African scholars, researchers, professionals and policy makers whose membership is both individual and corporate persons- and further categorized into fellows, members, associate and honorary members. The sum of the members is referred to as CAARS fellowship without prejudice to the fact that fellowship is the highest rank in the body.

Fellowship/Membership

CAARS fellowship is the highest rank in the subsets of CAARS membership. It is made up of academics who possess a PhD or have attained the rank of senior lecturer or its equivalence; or Professionals who have attained the directorate level or its equivalence in public or private organizations.

CAARS Membership is open to all researchers, scholars and scholars who are slightly below the fellowship cadre. It includes academics of the ranks of Assistant lecturer to lecturer I, and public and private personnel of ranks of administrative officers and middle level researchers, post-graduate students and the likes.

Associates Membership is open to all undergraduate students, executive officers in public and private organisations etc. Also included in the associate membership are all authors who have contributed papers to any of the CAARS Journals, books of reading or have presented papers at CAARS Conferences.

Honorary membership is a body of recipients of CAARS Awards, Honours and Medals.

Corporate Membership is open to all coporate organisations whose mandates are related to CAARS research Scope. They are free to join the Centre as corporate members or partners.
